We’re proud to announce a major leap forward here at TorqLogic. Our workshop has recently invested in a new, cutting-edge ECU communication tool that gives us full access to the latest Ford SID212 and SID212EVO engine control units. These advanced ECUs are fitted to a wide range of 2020 onward Ford vehicles, including the Transit, Transit Custom, Ranger, Focus, Fiesta, Puma, Kuga and more.

For a long time, these ECUs were considered incredibly restrictive. Many tuners simply couldn’t communicate with them reliably, meaning performance tuning, DPF repairs, AdBlue fixes, and advanced diagnostics were often impossible. The result? Owners were pushed toward costly main-dealer visits, unnecessary part replacements, or poor-quality remaps from untrained operators using unsafe tools.

Why the SID212 & SID212EVO ECUs Have Been a Challenge

The SID212 ECU family was introduced by Ford around 2020 as part of the new emissions and engine management strategy for the Euro 6.2 and Euro 6D-TEMP EcoBlue engines. These ECUs incorporate several layers of protection that make them extremely difficult to access without specialised equipment.

Some of the main challenges include:

1. Enhanced Anti-Tuning Protection

Ford uses advanced anti-tamper layers to prevent unauthorised modifications. Standard OBD tuning tools cannot bypass these safety blocks, meaning most tuners cannot read or write the ECU safely.

2. Encrypted Calibration Blocks

The torque maps, fuel maps, boost requests and emissions maps are encrypted. Without proper authorised access, any attempt to edit them risks corruption.

3. Strict Checksum Verification

If a single calculation is incorrect, the ECU may fail to boot, resulting in a “bricked” unit that prevents the vehicle from starting.

4. Complex Aftertreatment Management

Operating a vehicle with emissions systems removed or disabled on public highways is illegal, can fail MOT tests, and may invalidate insurance.

TorqLogic only offers these delete services for off-road, non-public-road vehicles, and the customer is responsible for ensuring the vehicle is used in compliance with all relevant laws.
